Koran vs. Bible – A Moral Equivalence?

In a rush to remove an hint of religious “discrimination” following the mass murder of September 11, 2001, voices from the left clamored to defend Islam as peaceful. The apparent goal was to remove Islam as a mitigating factor in the zeal to “kill the infidels”. That’s right- Islam had nothing to do with 9/11. According to the popular media, these were just crazed lunatics with absolutely no motivation other than an unpleasant disposition.

But for the record- all of the terrorists on 9/11 were devoted followers of Islam.

Racial profiling has become a sin second only to killing an endangered species. Many would have us believe that Islam is inherently neutral and equal to Christianity. So it has been implied that we have no right to discern Islam culture, tradition and dogma in fighting the war on terror.

But not only has there been a rush to defend Islam, but there also continues to be a persecution of the Christian faith in public culture (exposed in Persecution by David Limbaugh). Over the past thirty years, Christians have been told to give up their faith in public schools and court buildings. Praying in public has become equivalent to the public consumption of tobacco products – cursed and repudiated by the left.

In fact, the American political system and military does not proselytize the Bible or the Christian faith - even though a majority of Americans do profess a belief in the God of the Bible. We seek not to conquer and convert as most Islamic countries have done even to this very generation.

But the latest incarnation of this bias against Christianity is the situation in Gitmo prison in Cuba. Dick Durbin opened his mouth on the floor of the U.S. Senate this past Friday and equated the Gitmo prison to "Nazis, Soviets in their gulags or some mad regime — Pol Pot or others."

But on closer look the American military took great measures to respect the Koran and Islamic traditions of these illegal combatants. According to reports, these measures included:

  • Providing Korans to detainees
  • Wearing gloves to handle the Korans
  • Providing proper Islamic food
  • Allowing these combatants to practice their religion

These are all activities that would have the ACLU filing lawsuits if practiced in any American public school.

The Democratic party has been highjacked by the most liberal and extreme of their party. No longer is it a noble party that represents the people as it once was under John F. Kennedy. It has become a party that seeks to undermine our national security and seeks to find constitutional rights for foreign terrorists.

The hypocrisy on the left is building towards a breaking point. The only question now is when the liberals will implode upon themselves.
